Crisp (United Kingdom)

Maris Otter 

This variety of barley has long been the favorite of the English brewers for it's rich flavor and very forgiving brewing performance. This malt is produced in traditional floor maltings or Saladin boxes.

Chocolate

Chocolate refers primarily to the malt's colour, it is most often used in milds and porters as it lends various levels of aroma, has a deep red color and a nutty/roasted taste. Colour varies from country of origin but averages 350-450 SRM. 

Roast Barley 

This is unmalted barley, gently and gradually roasted to a rich dark brown. It is most often used in porters, stouts, Scottish ales, and milds. Roast Barley improves head retention and also adds reddish colour when used sparingly. Adds bitterness, roast aroma, dark color, and coffee flavour when used in greater quantities. Colour 300-500+SRM. 

Prairie Malt (Canadian)

2-Row  

This malt is suitable for ales and lagers. It has a SRM of 2.5-4.

Wheat Malt

Wheat malt is made from winter wheat, and is used in many styles of wheat beer. Used in combination with barley, wheat malt is believed to lighten mouthful and improve yeast activity. Colour 0-3 SRM. 

 

Weyermann (Germany)

Light Munich Type I 

Dark Munich Type II 

Carafoam 

This is a malt that is generally used to improve head retention and mouthfeel without adding color or flavour. Color 1-2 SRM.

MFB (France)

Vienna Malt 

Vienna malt has high acidity levels and provides a full flavour and deep amber colour. Vienna malt is the basis for the Vienna/Marzen/oktoberfest-style beer.Colour3-10 SRM.

Dingemans (Belguim)

Aromatic Malt 

A mildly kilned Belgian Barley malt that adds a strong malt aroma and deep colour when used as 100% of the grist in recipies. Color 20-25 SRM.

Special B 

The darkest of the Belgian caramel malts. Provides a heavy caramel flavour and is often credited with the resinlike flavours of some Belgian abbey beers. Colour 110-225 SRM. 

DWC

Biscuit 

This toasted malt provides a biscuit flavour and aroma that provides a brown colouring. Colour 20-25 SRM.
